Children can be added to our wait list from birth.
The wait list DOES NOT guarantee a place for a child.
Upon receipt of a completed form and the $50 application fee, the child’s name will be added to the wait list of applicants seeking entry to the Killarney School Ltd in the year and level as appropriate.
To qualify for the 2-day program (Thursday & Friday), the child must have turned 3 years old by/on 29 February.
To qualify for the 3-day program (Monday – Wednesday), the child must have turned 4 years old by/on 29 February.
Offers
Offers for places of enrolment for the following year start around February / March. The time frame is an indication only and may vary slightly from year to year. Should you wish to accept an offer, there is a non-refundable acceptance of enrolment fee of $500 per child. This fee is reduced to $250 for children accepting offers for the 3 day program only. Enrolment Acceptance Fee will reserve your child's place at the preschool and is payable when you accept the offer of enrolment. The fee is not held as a bond and not applied towards tuition fees.
Should applicants not be offered a place they are given the option of staying on the waiting list should a place become available at a later date.
The school is unable to give families any information as to their place on the waiting list or the likelihood of a place until the end of the offering process, at which time they will be notified in writing.
There is no appeals procedure should an applicant be unsuccessful in their application.
It is the responsibility of the Parents/Guardians to advise the school of changes to address and/or telephone numbers. At any stage of the enrolment process, should the school be unable to contact the Parents/Guardians, the application will not be further progressed.
Priority of offers
First priority is given to siblings and children of alumni, provided that:
the sibling was placed on the waitlist whilst their enrolled sibling attend the preschool, or
the sibling was placed on the waitlist within 6 months of the sibling completing their enrolment at the preschool
the child of an Alumni was placed on the waitlist prior to the child’s first Birthday.
Equal second priority of access will be granted to the following in order of date of application:
children who are at least 4 years old on or before the 31 July in that preschool year and not enrolled or registered at a school,
children who are at least 3 years old on or before 31 July in that preschool year and are:
children from low-income families
children with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background
children with disability or additional needs.
children who are at least 3 years old on or before 31 July in that preschool year with English language needs
children who are at risk of significant harm (from a child protection perspective).
It is a requirement of the NSW Department of Education, that priority be given to the groups outlined above before any other children.
Final offers will then be made to children who turn 4 years old after 31 July in order of date of application.
Continuity of enrolment
All children in the 2-day program will be automatically offered a position in the 3-day program in the following year.
If any child decides not to accept the position and cease their enrolment, the available position will be offered to the next child on the waitlist in order of date of application.
Offers of enrolment for the 3-day program will commence around October in the year prior to enrolment.
